Veniamin Kondratyev: Krasnodar Region’s high-star accommodation stock grows 1.5-fold in five years

The governor told journalists about the growing number of four- and five-star hotels and investor activity in the tourism sector.

«In 2021, we passed a regional law banning the residential construction within 500 metres of the sea. As a result, hoteliers gained access to the best resort locations, making it commercially viable for businesses to invest in their development. Over the past five years, the number of 4- and 5-star properties in the Krasnodar Region has increased 1.5-fold, to more than 350. The number of high-star-rated guest rooms has also grown by 50%, from just under 31,000 in 2021 to around 45,000 today. This growth has been driven mainly by chain hotels. Currently, 87 hotels in the region operate on an all-inclusive basis, up from 50 five years ago. The launch of such facilities is particularly important, as it helps attract tourists to our resorts all year round,» said Veniamin Kondratyev.

The governor said that 215 tourism projects are currently under way in the Krasnodar Region, with a total investment of 1.5 trillion roubles. By comparison, in 2019 there were just 28 such projects, worth 23.7 billion roubles. In 2026, more than 10,000 new hotel rooms will be added across the region, and over 70 accommodation facilities are set to open.
